Privacy policy

This policy describes what Margin Guard: Profit Alerts collects, why, and how to have it removed. The app is provided by agntwrk. Last updated 2026-10-01.

What we collect

When you install the app we store the store domain, currency, the store contact email, and an access token for the Shopify Admin API. We keep a copy of the store's products, variants, inventory item costs, collections, and discounts, read with the read_products, read_inventory, and read_discounts scopes. We also store what you set in the app: margin rules, overrides, exclusions, alert settings (an email address and, if you add one, a Slack webhook URL), and the app plan. We do not request or store orders or customer data, so the app holds no customer personal data. Standard server logs record the IP address, user agent, and request path. We do not sell personal data and do not use it for advertising.

How we use it

To calculate margins, check discounts, run checkout protection, send the alerts you turn on, bill the plan you chose through Shopify, and secure the service.

What the app writes to your store

With the write_products scope the app writes metafields on your variants (each variant's cost, minimum margin, and title) and one metafield on the shop (the checkout policy), which hold the values its checkout validation needs. It does not change product titles, prices, or costs. With write_validations it registers the checkout validation. With write_discounts it deactivates a discount, only when you ask it to.

Where it lives, and who processes it

In Google Cloud Firestore in the United States. Alert email is sent through Resend, which receives the recipient address and the alert content. If you add a Slack webhook, alert content is sent to that webhook. These providers process the data under their own terms. Shopify authenticates the app and processes its charges; we do not collect payment card details.

Analytics

The public pages (the home page and this policy) may use Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymization to count visits. The app inside the Shopify admin does not use analytics.

Retention and deletion

We keep the data while the app is installed. Uninstalling the app deletes the store's data from the database: the catalog copy, rules, alert settings, alerts, and sessions. Shopify's shop/redact request deletes it again. Shopify's customer data requests (customers/data_request and customers/redact) are answered with nothing to delete, because no customer data is stored. Server logs may remain for their retention period. Write to us to have anything else removed.
